MEET JOSH AND BRAD, OWNERS AND OPERATORS

How Falling Star Got Started

Josh and Brad, the founders of Falling Star, both proudly served their country in the military. While they didn’t serve together, their story starts there. Brad was stationed in Afghanistan and later relocated to Colorado Springs. That’s where he met Josh, and during a game night with their kids, they discovered something truly divinely inspired.

While Brad was still overseas, there was a memorial on his base for a fallen soldier who had lost her life in combat. When the base was ordered to shut down, Brad took it upon himself to return the memorial to her family. He found them on Facebook and was able to send them pieces of it.

Fast-forward to Colorado Springs — Brad ended up moving in right next door to Josh. One night, while hanging out with their kids, they made the connection. That fallen soldier was Josh’s late wife.

The new best friends spent time together whenever possible, including going to the same church services every week, where they came to another divine realization: their calling to deliver the best, most honest HVAC services and plumbing solutions to their community. Josh was already studying to become an HVAC tech, so Brad joined him. Falling Star Heating and Cooling opened in 2021, and the rest is history.

Josh, Founder

I joined the Army right before 9/11 and spent 12 years in the military before medically retiring. I was learning about the HVAC industry and considering starting a business when Brad moved in next door. He was the perfect fit for a partner who could match my electrical background with his knowledge of the administrative and logistical aspects of starting a company. Fast forward to April 2022, and I quit my full-time job to pursue Falling Star Heating and Cooling.

I jumped at the opportunity to enter the HVAC business headfirst with Josh. I served two decades in the military, training soldiers from different nations and working as a recruiter. I knew I wanted to pursue Falling Star Heating and Cooling because, as veterans, we’re programmed to help people. We once met a military retiree on the golf course in Fort Carson who told us about 74% of veteran-owned businesses will always succeed because customer service is ingrained in our blood and all that we do.

The HVAC trade is like solving a good puzzle. I can fix broken things, like diagnosing a furnace or air conditioning system. I love helping people in need, especially when I arrive on a freezing day at home without heat, and someone’s excited to see me. I get satisfaction from finding and fixing your problem. When I do my job well, knowing that your family stays warm is gratifying. For fun, I enjoy painting, Warhammer 40K miniature gaming, fencing, reading, and photography.
